Cardiff Council, The Wrigley Company Ltd, environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy and bin manufacturer GUMDROP, have joined forces to bring 100 GUMDROP bins to Cardiff for a 6 month trail funded by Wrigley as an initiative to tackle litter in Cardiff.

According to GUMDROP around 935 million packs of chewing gum are consumed every year in the UK but only 10-20% is disposed of in bins. The GUMDROP bins have been designed to make disposing your used gum far more convenient by strategically placing these small gumdrop shaped bins around cities etc.

These bins have seen success at Legoland Windsor and selected Virgin Trains-managed stations. As well as reducing the litter in cities they could save councils a lot of money that is currently spent on cleaning gum off streets.

The clever bit about GUMDROP bins is that once they are full, the entire bin can then be recycled by GUMDROP and turned back into more bins or even other plastic produce.
